Walk, bike or take public transport, you’ll save one pound of Carbon Dioxide for every mile you don’t drive.
green tip tuesday, transportation, cars, bike, walk, carbon dioxide
How many times have you taken something to the dump, or put it in the garbage bin because you thought no one would want it? That old couch… the timber you just pulled off of the kids treehouse (because the kids got to old for a treehouse)… that linoleum you just pulled up from your redecorating endeavors.
Believe it or not, those things can be reused by someone else. Perhaps a newlywed couple could use a couch to put in their new home. Maybe a college student could use that old bike to get to school. Perhaps you could use that old ladder with one missing rung…
Join your local FreeCycle and reduce the amount of solid waste making it to the landfill.
green tip tuesday, recycle, FreeCycle, reuse, free, gift, share
How many times have you done it? You run into the drugstore or convenience store, you grab a soda, or a birthday card, or a bottle of aspirin. While you’re passing your checkcard through the reader, they bag that cola. You get your receipt and ten steps later you’re in your car and the bag in in the trash, or the backseat, or floating in the wind.
Just say no.
Did you know that turning off the water while you brush your teeth, can save up to a gallon a minute?
Remember that wasting water also wastes power. Water has to be pumped to your tap, which requires a lot of energy.
